Regional Business Partner Network
Every business will now be feeling some effects of COVID-19 on their business operations. The Regional Business Partner Network is the government’s support for small and medium-sized businesses in the regions. The RBP has received additional funding to help businesses access professional advice to help them respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ministry of Social Development’s Flexi-Wage for self employment
Flexi-wage Self-employment is one of the ways we support New Zealanders into work.
If you’re accepted for Flexi-wage Self-employment support:
• you’ll receive $600 a week over 28 weeks, totalling $16,800 (GST inc) if you’re running your business full-time
• you may also be able to get a Business Training and Advice Grant of up to $5,000 (to develop a business plan or participate in training for business skills, advice and producing project reports).
• You may also be able to access up to $10,000, to help with business start-up costs, through our Selfemployment start up payment: www.workandincome.govt.nz/startup
Who can get Flexi-wage Self-employment
You may be able to get Flexi-wage Self-employment if you’re all of the following:
• out of work
• aged between 18 and 64 inclusive (or 65+ and don’t qualify for NZ Super)
• disadvantaged in the local labour market
• at risk of long-term benefit dependency
• able to meet the residency criteria.

Akerei hails from the village of Lufilufi Samoa where he was born and where he is bestowed the Samoan Chief title of Inu. He also represents Otara, South Auckland which he proudly grew up and advocates as the innovation capitol of the world.
He is a multi award winning leader, entrepreneur, businessman, consultant, investor and founding member of the Founders Institute of New Zealand launched in 2020. He has 15+ years of experience creating and implementing business plans, research and delivering projects for public and private sectors, small businesses, and pre-launch start-ups. He has international experience in the USA, Europe, Middle East, South America, and Australasia. He has gained experience transitioning through several key roles, within the public and private sectors including Police Senior Sergeant, CEO, General Manager, Director, Governance, Commercial Relationships, Investor and Entrepreneur.
Behind all of these cool things however, Akerei was a child sex abuse victim, a suicide survivor, youth gang member and attended 4 high schools in New Zealand before being sent back to Samoa. His message is “we all are exposed to some form o f trauma in our lifetime. Some more than others. Having the resiliance to overcome those experiences can be the secret sauce to your success. So, dont aspire to make a living or just get a job, aspire to make a difference. The rest should fall in place.
